Lagos Thursday 11 March

June 28th, 2010 | By

Today I saw the really city called Lagos. Idi, Ido (security/policeman) and I went to the centre of Lagos city. It’s similar to Amsterdam the big city back in Holland. Only Lagos city is 10 times bigger, if not even more. It was way more crowded and the buildings were even way bigger and higher than the ones I knew back in Amsterdam. The black market in Holland at Beverwijk market was way smaller than the one in Lagos. It felt like all ethnic groups in Nigeria were represented in the centre of Lagos. I bought myself sandals for I native clothing to wear. Normally I used to wear sneakers under my native clothing. But my cousin Idi explained to me this wasn’t proper to do in Naija. So we went to set this straight. I searched for green sandals and even found them. My favorite color is green, so it’s obvious I was looking for this color. I also bought sandals for my mom. Just felt like giving her something as well. After Lagos city we went back home to relax I selves.

In the evening I had an important meeting with Udoka, Jude, Nane, Steve, Idi, Ido, wife of Steve and I for the music bizz. Steve, close friend of I family wanted to ensure that Udoka (marketer) and Jude (manager) were capable to handle I music in Nigeria. The meeting lasted for an hour and I found it very interesting. Steve and Jude were the ones who were talking on a regular base. Steve represented I and Jude felt like taking it up for Udoka. At the end I was the one who gave my own honest opinion. I explained to everyone that Udoka was the one who putted his trust in I as an artist. He was the one whom brought Jude and I together and I will always thank him for that. While saying that I also mentioned that it felt very right working with Udoka, though he’s not the biggest marketer. The biggest meaning he’s not one of them big shots whom will provide I with loads of money on the short term. But I was looking further and believe this could be achieved on the long term. Most important of all is, that I felt he could provide me the best working relationship at the moment. Cause I is making music for my soul, the people, fans and of course I want to earn some money. But it’s not the main thing. Jude understood this and Udoka as well, that’s why we could work together so well.

By saying this and listening to Jude, Steve was convinced Jude and Udoka were the men to handle my music good and uplifting in Naija. So with his blessings, Nane’s and the rest of the family I took the journey in becoming Naija’s next upcoming artist. So Nigeria I salute you all!
