Naija man Geoffy G is back with a new music video for his fans. He’s competing in a contest in Canada for Busy Bee Hot Flashes. An online clothing store. The artist wrote a song for the company and decided to shoot an low budget music video. ”Busy Bee Hot Flashes”, is a remix of hit track ”No Gain” (Nigeria). The official music video from No Gain is about to be released in Nigeria. So it’s quite unusual that the remix with it’s video is out before the original. After establishing his entertainment/record company ”Black Star Entertainment”. The artist wanted to do something extra for his fans/followers. See the result and forward the music video. With the Nigeria Project moving till it’s release of Maintain Yourself. The artist himself is busy with developing his live performance. Geoffy teamed up with a reggae band in Amsterdam/Holland, King Smo is their name. With only a couple of months in the rehearsal rooms the musicians find it time to gain more experience on stage. Woodlandsfestival in Bergen NH will be their first exposure to the public. They go by the name Geoffy G + King Smo Band. If you love Reggae music with a blend of Naija hiphop. Come and check them out on July 23rd in Bergen NH/Holland.

Theophilus Onyenaturuchi George, ook wel bekend als Geoffy G, is een artiest afkomstig uit Nigeria en opgegroeid in Bergen NH. De hiphop/reggae artiest heeft een lange weg bewandeld voordat hij het muzikale pad kon betreden dat hij nu gaat volgen. Hij begon met rappen op de Bergense Scholen Gemeenschap met z’n vrienden Willem en Twan, nu beter bekend als the Opposites. Een aantal jaar later ontwikkelde hij zich als podiumbeest met de Nijmeegse funk, reggae en hiphop formatie Mosqio in de grote poppodia zoals 013 Tilburg, Doornroosje Nijmegen, Podium Victorie Alkmaar, Paaspop, Trendpop en meer.

Toen hij terug keerde naar Nederland, was hij geïnspireerd en wilde het goed aanpakken. Voor een goede live performance had hij een band nodig dat zijn muziek nog een stap hoger zou brengen. King Smo Band is een reggae band uit Amsterdam met o.a. Ervin/Sliscobars op de toetsen (producer Kleine Viezerik) en Hans op de bas (geluidsman The Opposites). De band complementeerde zijn rapnummers door het te vertalen naar reggae. Nu treden zij samen op onder de naam Geoffy G + King Smo Band. Deze samenwerking blijkt een slimme zet, want zij reizen deze zomer af naar Frankrijk (Vredesfestival 21 september) en London (30 juli) om te doen waar ze goed in zijn…muziek maken. Maar eerst komen ze naar Bergen om te laten zien waar deze muzikale levensmissie hen heen heeft gebracht en spelen zij hun reggae en hip hop vibes op Woodlands.

In Nigeria things are moving well. We had some delay because of the elections in my homeland. But the road seems clear for us now, so we can pick up where we left. Besides climbing the Christoffel Mountain in Curacao, playing at the Benefit concert, quiz at the Renaissance Hotel and interviews at Dolfijn FM and Live Direct FM 92.1. Geoffy went diving in Curacao! Who could imagine this? An Afropean, Naija born artist who is afread of depths, hights and boot trips. Decide to dare his self to the max. He took a 4 days cours from PADI. And even completed the course in 3 days! See one of the first Nigerian diving at a maximal depth of 18 m.

Curacao was hit by a tropical storm this year. It was a storm the Island had never seen since 50 years! To raise money and awareness, various artists were invited to contribute in a Benefit Concert. Geoffy is one of the artists contributing in this wonderful event. Although his contribution is short. It had a great impact on the crowd. He really represented his momma land Nigeria with this one.

Like Geoffy would say: ”Just Moving Mountains baby”.

Besides having fun and exploring the Island. Geoffy also went for promotion for his music. Dolfijn FM and Live Direct FM 92.1 are the radio stations he was invited for an interview. We got the footage from the interview at Live Direct FM 92.1 with host Chris Strick.
